Get Into PT School.
We provide strategy, expert guidance, and practical advice to strengthen your application and showcase your value to DPT programs.
Don’t Roll The Dice With Your Future.
Advice like “get good grades” or “do well on the GRE” or “write a good essay” is frustrating at best, and harmful at worst. If you take this advice, you are rolling the dice with your future, possibly wasting enormous amounts of time (years) and money (thousands) in the process.
If you are frustrated with the advice that’s out there, and are looking for a better way, you are not alone.
You just need to learn what schools are looking for, so you can optimize your application.
The good news? We help you do just that. It’s why we founded MyPhysioMentor. To help applicants like you get into PT school.

Meet Your Guide
Marcus Johnson, PT, DPT, CSCS
Your Physio Mentor, Marcus Johnson is a Doctor of Physical Therapy who, looking back on his journey, wants to help others get into PT school. The application process can be daunting, confusing, and frustrating, leading many potential PT’s to waste time and money.
It took him 3 years to get into the University of Washington Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. He wouldn’t change a thing, but it would have been nice to avoid the hassle of re-applying twice.
He is currently an acute care physical therapist supporting the Trauma and Acute Surgery (TACS) team at a local hospital and lives with his wife and family in Shoreline, Washington.

The Curriculum
Who is admitted to PT school? And why? It’s the question that plagues potential PT students.
The answer?
It almost entirely depends on if the admissions board thinks you will add value to their program. Someone with a 4.0 GPA who won’t add value is a much less attractive applicant than a student with a 3.1 GPA who will. The PT application process is all about showcasing who you are and your experiences to show you’ll add value to the program. In this course, we show you exactly how you can “add value” to a DPT program.
We don’t believe in fluff — we get right to the information you need to know. We estimate the entire course can be completed in half a day (4 – 5 hours).
Module 1 – The Basics
Every year, around 95% of applicants to PT programs are rejected. You want to be in the 5%. In this first module, we’ll go over some of the basics — your GPA, how to leverage your undergrad courses, and we’ll provide you a checklist for what you must accomplish to get your application considered.
Getting into PT school is similar to a race — if you don’t get the basics, they won’t even let you onto the track. Hundreds of applications are thrown out each year because of missed deadlines, ignored requirements, and overlooked details.
We’ll go over exactly what you need to have in order, and when, so you can get on the track and run the race.
Module 2 – Picking A School
Every one of the 229 PT schools in the US are different. That means depending on the school you choose, you’ll develop a strategy for that school. In this module, we help you identify your ideal school, and teach you to construct a strategy based on that school’s requirements.
Included in this module, you’ll learn:
- How to be effective as an undergrad
- How to pick classes strategically so you’ll look good
- How and why to research schools
- How to identify schools where you’re competitive
SKILLS PRACTICE #1 – School Selection
Module 3 – Key Components
In the third module, we’ll discuss the key components. This is where we teach you to stand out, to be one of the 5% admitted to your program. The three main topics we’ll cover are the letters of recommendation, the essay, and the interviews.
Letters of Recommendation
We’ll go over how to get incredible (not just good) letters of recommendation. You’ll learn how to develop relationships with people who can help propel your application forward. Letters of recommendation are not a “check the box” activity. They are a critical part of your application.
The Essay
This is the most important part of the application, where you get the chance to make the case for why you will add value to the school’s program. You’ll learn exactly how to stand out (hint: it’s not by talking about an injury that interested you in PT school). We’ll show you how to translate your accomplishments to value, and speak in a language the evaluators will understand and notice.
Interviews
We’ll go over practice questions, how to prepare, and provide a formula for answering well every single time.
SKILLS PRACTICE #2 – The Essay
SKILLS PRACTICE #3 – Interview Strategy
Module 4 – Rounding Out Your Application
The fourth module is about rounding out your application. There are steps you can take to enhance certain parts of your application, and downplay others. The PT application is all about strategy, and we’ll show you how to accentuate your accomplishments, and downplay anything that may hurt your chances. We’ll also discuss certain pitfalls and bad advice. There’s lots of advice out there, but most of it isn’t helpful, or it’s plain wrong. Lastly, we’ll discuss alternative approaches to your application.
SKILLS PRACTICE #4 – Optimize Opportunities
